3 mile obstacle course followed by beer, could be fun... CLICK HERE TO check it out

Google+

This is totally worth checking out. Google+ is basically Google's answer to Facebook, but with more features and a simpler layout. It might also provide a better format than the blog for sharing things with each other... if we all joined and had a "circle" (see the demo, link above) for the people in the blog it would be better integrated with whatever else we do online and probably easier to read and keep track of. Thoughts? I have invites if anyone wants to sign up.

A Music Video I Just Made

So today is Bastille Day. For the past month, my internship has had me working on a video to commemorate it. I just finished it yesterday and they posted it today!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hKaobHdCSM

Parkour and Freerunning

I saw a video a while back of people practicing freerunning on super mario-esque blocks and stuff. Turns out it was from Tempest Freerunning Academy, which just opened this spring. Check out their promo trailer:

This also provides good contrast to the gym I just started going to in Seattle, Parkour Visions. Here's a sample video from them, taken during an obstacle course challenge they host every year:

First Sasuke at Parkour Visions from Tim Harding on Vimeo.

One of the guys there is from Tempest, funny enough. The difference between freerunning and parkour is pretty evident from these two videos. Tempest chooses to promote themselves by doing flips and spins and huge jumps and swings while Parkour Visions is a non-profit that focuses on the process of teaching parkour safely and effectively. Is one of them better? Can't say. But I like skiing more than snowboarding.

a forwarded thought

hey there,
thank you Dante for putting the energy into trying to keep this going, i love that this blog is out there, and that there is a place for us to keep in contact with eachother and find out more about what we are all up to. that said, i have not yet posted anything up on this blog before. i did however recieve an email somewhat recently that had an impact on me, which is rather unusual considering the amount of silly rubbish that gets circulated on the internet these days. so... i wanted to share it with y'all. i hope it strikes you all like it did me. all my best,
sam

Wheel of Life V16

I totally forgot about this blog! for some reason it randomly sent me an email when dante posted on the david blaine post(which is mindblowing)... anyways heres a video (CLICK HERE TO CHECK IT OUT) that is worth the watch.

Enter the Void

David Blaine - Superhuman?

Chris Angel may be a mind freak (and a fake) but David Blane is a body freak, doesn't sound quite as good, but this guy is insane. So good in fact, he did a TED talk at their medical conference - you have to do something pretty incredible to get on there, so that's saying something. Some of his tricks seem impossible, but watching his commitment to these pursuits gives those questionable tricks/allusions a lot of credibility.

VOINA

PART OF THE GROUP

Voina (Russian: Война = War) is a Russian performance group known for their provocative and politically charged works of performance art. Voina was founded in 2007 by philosophy students at Lomonosov Moscow State University Oleg Vorotnikov and Natalia Sokol,[1] In late February 2011 the activists Oleg Vorotnikov and Leonid Nikolayev were released on bail after four months in Moscow police custody, in connection with an anti-corruption protest. They face up to seven years of prison.[2][3] In response to the detention, graffiti artist Banksy decided to raise money for the artists.[3] They have also been denounced by right-wing groups like the People's Synod.[1][4]

Genius Radio documentary.

Modern brain scanners can see the mind at work. They can also raise moral issues. More "Mysteries of the Brain" this week on The Changing World

First Half
The mechanics of making a simple decision(such as deciding to move our arm to pick up a glass of water) may be more complex than we might assume. Barry Smith, director of the Institute of Philosophy at the University of London's School of Advanced Study, looks at the brain's role in routine as well as sophisticated decision making.

Second Half
It's a fair assumption that when several people look at the same thing; they see the same thing. You see a smiling face, I see a smiling face. But that's not always the case. Philosophy professor Barry Smith ventures into our consciousness; how we perceive stimuli; and how technology is being used to read our minds.
