Why the hell worry about Google over FACEBOOK?

That shit was badly narrated.

I'm so tired of conspiracy nonsense. I have so few secrets on the interwebs that I give a fuck all if Facebook and Google know things about me. I'm gonna live my life day-to-day and worry about Big Brother when I actually partake in radical or criminal activity. Which I can't really see happening.

asa, this video is not some fringe conspiracy, don't be so quick to dismiss. it just listed all the different pies that google has its fingers in, well-documented information. Google is not unique in this aspect, most of the world's industries are controlled by a handful of corporations in each respective field, who in turn control politics, through campaign finance. this information is not radical, it is as main-stream as it gets. we are so entrenched in it that we cannot see what is happening all around us. and why would we want to? waking up to the reality that the majority of information fed to us is controlled by a few powers is immensely frightening. and your comment about not being concerned about privacy infringement because you have nothing to hide, no "radical or criminal activity". What if the societal definitions of radical/criminal activity shift in a more conservative direction and you no longer fall in the "law-abiding citizen" category? We, as citizens are willfully giving up our freedoms to corporations, because we are too asleep to care.
