visually unnerving--but yeah a co worker of mine was sharing some of his experiences as a protester during the late 60's in LA --specifically events that were held by Iranian youth that were fighting for the removal of the Shah--because of their government's abuses and crack down they wore masks like these to conceal their identities otherwise they or their family would be kidnapped and possibly killed. My co-worker told one specific story of a protest in LA that was getting out of hand--they were up against a gated community (i forget which one) and were being tear gassed by riot police on the other side of the wall and police. to neutralize the tear gas they set fire to the lawn lining the community. later in the event a police car came flying from behind all of the protestors and began to plow through people, launching them into the air... respect to anyone if they can find coverage or footage of the event!
