Following up on the "Man-Hike" idea, totally for it. I have been thinking a lot about these sort of ventures, and now have my mind set on one trip in particular. It is called the
Pacific Northwest Trail, it runs from Glacier Natl. Park in Montana to the coast of Washington at Cape Alava. It totals 1200 miles and could be done in 3 months give or take. Which is about how much time we have for our summer breaks.... Reading about this hike is what I have been doing to distract my self from doing homework. I encourage you to do the same.

Wonderful. Would you want to do the whole thing - as in all summer?
absolutely, thru-hike or nothing. but not this coming summer necessarily. we need some serious planning time.
agreed - thats how I feel. What are you thinking for this summer though? I read today more about the one I was thinking the Sierra High Route, the John Muir Trail alternative and I don't know if it is ideal. Skurka called it the most physically demanding hike he has ever done and also an outrageous mosquito presence. Not good. No likey the moskeet-skeet. Ideas?
I second John Muir, it is beautiful secluded landscape and short enough that there would be room for other shenanigans over the summer.
Well, I had the idea of doing a cross, or round olympic national park hike. 8-10 days. there is still the west coast trail, which would be gorgeous. Yosemite also looks increda dank, through which the muir trail passes, i think.
were you thinking the whole JM trail, 200+ miles?
