there is no question that anderson silva would spend a large portion of this fight on the ground given GSP's phenomenal take down record and Silva's not so phenomenal take down defense record. And while anderson silva is exceptionally athletic and has great BJJ(beating many competent ground specialists) it is his weakest attribute, additionally GSP is exceptionally athletic and his strongest attribute is his wrestling and general ownege on the ground. Stylistically Anderson looses. Take into consideration that all silvas legitimate losses, if such a thing exists, have been to second rate ground specialists and that almost all the grounder gamers he fought seemed at least somewhat dangerous which cannot be said about forest griffin and other striking specialist. To top it all off GSP looks like he takes steroids. Given GSP's talent fitness and stylistic advantage I would be fairly confident of a GSP win.
the ground game might be silva's weakness, but it's not much of one considering he has the best striking in mixed martial arts in the world. his ju-jitsu might pale in comparison to his standing game, but he's also might be the best in his division at ju-jitsu. if you can give me a fight where silva's had to work hard to beat an opponent, i might start to consider st. pierre. but as it stands, silva is absolutely untouchable. he literally never gets hurt. the same is not true for gsp.
