Well, he was way more legit than Emerson. Emerson was a little bitch. Although to be fair, he was a little bitch with a talent for piercing intellectual observation. Thoreau lived by a pond for a few years, and got arrested when he didn't want to pay his taxes. From that he wrote Civil Disobedience, which we had to read for school. I think he's one of the only intellectuals that truly practiced what he preached.
