I decided to make a new post to call attention to this issue. What are people's preferences for leaving home for this trip? I get to list possible start dates for entry into whitney portal, which will affect when we leave. Our options are anytime the 5th of July and on, that day is less preferable because of inevitable hangovers after a raucous 4th celebration. Let me know soon, because the lottery opens on Feb. 1st and i want to get it in pronto.

I vote for asap after 4th or asap after june 12th which would be the latest any of us get out of school.
nate your not going back to western--your gonna take a year off !!!
Right now this trip trumps any other plans I have for the summer with the exception of school starting. I don't know when that'll be, but I know some of us have absurdly early start dates (Michael). Also I think I'm getting back from Europe mid June. Also it would be nice to do some warm-up hikes before we leave like across the Olympics. I think around July Fourth would be good.
it is definitely going to be in july, i gather that it doesnt matter too much to anyone so we'll just see what gets thrown our way. alex, i am so down for that hike, you up for going soon after you get back from Europa?
Hellz yeah! But it will take some planning as well such as how will we get home once we finish?
i think hitch-hiking could be a good option, just plan in an extra day for that or something. or find someone to drive us.
I am not too worried about how to get down there as I am about coordinating us all together. My vote is July 5 or 6 busting straight down there and immeadately beginning the hike. Would the clibing in Yosemite be during this time or is that even still part of the plan. Also I think we should be very conscious of when works for Ryan as flights are far more difficult and less flexible to coordinate.
yes, i've been in contact with him, and he recognizes that there is no way to pin point an exact date, so he just told me do do my thing and hopefully it'll work out, and if not tough shit.
